When and why did you start training for fighting?
I started when i was 6 years old, all my family are heavily involved in martial arts and martial sports, most of my family are stand up fighters as most of them are boxers and kick boxers but have all done various martial arts, when i was 6 my dad took me to all the local clubs which were karate, boxing, judo and taekwondo, i loved the judo, couldn’t tell you why? Maybe because i was the only kid in the class that could do a forward roll haha, also my pops used to take me to English wrestling, big daddy, danny boy colins ect and my dad used to talk about there breakfalls and i wanted to learn myself how to do them, judo was good for that. I ended up doing judo for 12 years winning many national titles and was selected for the British judo council's National Judo team n forght many times in Europe, funny enough at around 11years old judo was also the place i became very good friends with my now coach Jimmy Wallhaed, so weve kinda always been fighting/training together in teams & comps, its great to have someone that i trust as much as Jim Wallhead im my corner, to me that is irreplaceable.
Do you have any heroes?
I dont have any heroes to be honest, i idolise NO man, i have alot of respect for certain people/fighters, i admire what they can do, physically, mentally, creatively, and sometimes it quite amazes me at whats humanly possible with the right backing, support and attitude....but no heros haha, if i had to say one person, it would be my dad, he's supported me my hole life no matter what sh*t ive throw at him and he's been threw alot in his life, even at 66 years old he's still backing me all the way.
What is your favourite technique?
Without a doubt, Harai Goshi
What does it mean for you to fight for FIGHT UK?
I am very happy to be signed to Fight UK, its early days for Fight UK but ive fought on some good shows like Cage Rage, Ultimate Challenge, Strike & Submit and i can already tell Fight UK is gonna be MASSIVE, Fight UK's run by a fantastic team of promoters and staff, they always have great fightcards with exciting fighters on every show, youve only got to look at the mma teams getting involved with fight uk to see the calibre of fighters it has on its books, they have already secured a tv deal and are moving to a lovely new venue so watch out for the Fight UK team and fighters who will be making big waves in 2012.
What was your job before you started fighting?
I've done all sorts, from fitting windows, factory, office and even working in Miami installing pc's on ships. I've done all sorts but this is the way i want to earn my living, fighting, learning, staying healthy, in mind not just in body, and MMA helps me do all three of these
Can i also say a big thanks my sponsors, fitnessstation.co.uk, martialartsshaop.co.uk, supplement4bodybuilding.co.uk and spiritsports.co.uk, there support means a lot to me.
